well the residency began with me falling down a step (one step, on a midway landing) and breaking half my body. my right knee/ankle/big toe has seen much better days. i am now limping through the city trying to carry canvas moving at the pace of unfit snails. this is EXACTLY how i envisioned kicking this thing off. my sister came to help me setup but kept talking to me about her hair and clothes etc. which was unfortunately what the painter guy next door heard at which point he shut his door (he left it open after i went over and said hi earlier). it's remained closed since. i met some other guys today too. guys who seem to be far too important to meet my basic greeting 'hi' 'silence'. they said 'cheers' when i held the door open after me but even then not breaking stride.
i am also paranoid about this one person there who has been less than helpful cause i met someone else today who is extremely helpful and turns out exact information i had requested from this other person was met with a 'yeah...we don't do that'. BUT THEY DO! auugh. thank god for friendly gay gentlemen. haha, who when discussing the other residents mentioned everyone and then said 'oh yeah. and the boys are over there' with a disparaging tone.
i've made some stuff and it's actually very relaxing being there in my own room with the door closed and my ipod on. the paint i bought is taking a while to dry though so i'm slightly worried about actually getting it all done in time. who knew that this idea of creating all the work in a week and then launching a show would be chaotic? there may have been some sort of oversight in this matter on my part.
my foot really hurts.

haha! of course you already have made friends with the gay gentleman.
Um friendly gay gentlemen form the basis of my friend pool. Also, GET YOUR LEG CHECKED OUT! This is coming from someone who killed their knee whilst thrashing around in a mosh pit to Cypress Hill in San Diego and then never got it looked at and now has a "Gimpy Knee". Maybe tru a hairdryer set at low heat to dry paint too.
